Robert Leslie Keefer, 78, of 655 E Fairchild died at 11:30 pm Saturday (March 31, 1973) at Lake View Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since March 25. He was born Nov 18, 1894, in Rob Roy, Ind. The son of Robert and Ida Clawson Keefer. He married Marie Carrier Jan. 8, 1926 in Springfield, and she survives. He had been a partner with his brother in the Isaac Keefer Contractors company. After retiring from the contracting business he worked in the maintenance department of the Danville High School, until he retired due to failing health. Survivors include a son, Robert Jr., of Danville; two daughters, Mrs. Breta Ann Jahnke of Mount Prospect and Mrs. Patsy Landsdown of Danville, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary, and by two brothers and two sisters. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Rob Roy and of Curtis G. Redden Post 210 of the American Legion. He served in the Army during World War I. His hobbies were fishing and hunting. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. William Chalmers will officiate, and burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The American Legion will hold military rites at the cemetery.
