Lulu Catharine Keefer, the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Keefer, who was born December 4th, 1876, died last Saturday morning, April 29th, at 5:30 o'clock, at the residence of her parents, in Vigo county. Lulu, by which name she was generally known here, was an exceptionally beautiful and attractive girl, having graces of character that are seldom found in one of her age. For many years she was a leader among the younger social sets of Covington, and the news of her death cast a deep gloom over this entire community. Bright and ambitious, Lulu worked with studious care while she was getting her education. In the schools of this city, and when she graduated it was with the honors of her class. She then taught in the city schools, and later went to Indiana University, where she was a close student and one of the foremost members of the Kappa Kappa Tamwa fraternity. The past winter she taught school again, but before her school was out she contracted a cold, which developed into consumption. Lulu's life was silent but beautiful. She had a kindly heart, and when she lived here was a member of the Do-Good Society, composed of young girls, who furnished clothing and provisions to the poor. Her rest is the rest of the righteous.
