John G. Keefer, the sixth child of a family of nine children of Israel and Margaret Hall Keefer, was born in Ross county, Ohio, Aug. 30 1851, died near Terre Haute, Aug 7, 1904. He came with his parents to Rob Roy when 3 years of age. He was twice married, first to Henrietta Fisher, Dec. 18, 1873, who died Aug. 15, 1883. To this union three children were born, Estella, Lou Catharine and Archie G. Archie died July 13, 1883 and Lulu Catharine died April 30, 1899. His second marriage was to Mary E. Stevenson, April 14, 1885; this wife, his daughter Estella and granddaughter and three brothers and a host of friends remain to mourn his loss. He was born and reared a Methodist, was a republican active in politics and served 8 years as Recorder in Covington. He was an intelligent, useful citizen. The remains were laid to rest in the Beulah Cemetery Aug. 8, 1904.
