ATTICA — Jewell Mae (Clark)
Karlson, 74, 807 E. Jackson St., Attica, died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24,
2000 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been admitted on
Wednesday. She was born Oct. 25, 1925 in Warren County, the daughter of Jesse
and Lucille Stevens Clark. She married Otto S. Karlson Oct. 11, 1947 in
Westville, Ill. He survives. She had attended school in Williamsport and Attica
and had lived in Attica most of her life. She formerly worked for Guthman's and
Radio Material Corp. in Attica and later worked for Crown Laundry in Lafayette.
She was a member of the Attica Free Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the
Eagles Lodge #2596 of Attica, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion
Post #492 of West Lafayette. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and painting.
Survivors, besides the husband, include: a daughter, Wilma Jean Fogleman,
Indianapolis; three sisters, Elizabeth Poore, Lafayette, Rose Marie Clark,
Francesville and Nancy (Bill) Hembre, Greenville, Texas, three grandchildren,
Sarah Ann Blankman, Anna Marie Gosewehr and Edwin B. Fogleman; seven
great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a
sister, Glenda Clark. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Maus Funeral
Home, Attica, with the Rev. Marcos Gilmore officiating. Burial was in Riverside
Cemetery, Attica. – jlr
