Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Leo Rich of the death of their nephew, T-5 Douglas L. Keller, son of Mr. and Mrs. CO Keller of Chicago, Ill.  He was killed in an airplane crash over Hopton, England.  Other details have not as yet been received. Born in Westville, Ill on Feb 16, 1922 T-5 Douglas Layton Keller moved to Chicago with his parents in 1927 when his father, an executive of the South Suburban Safeway Lines was transferred there. In the army since March 11, 1943 he received his training at camps in Mississippi, Colorado and Florida and for four months he studied at the University of Pittsburgh.  He was graduated from Thornton HS in 1940 and the junior college two years later. Attached to the 8th AF he had been overseas since Feb 1, 1944.  Surviving besides his parents is a sister, Norma, who is attached to the US Embassy in Mexico City.  She returned home by plane when she learned of her brother’s death.  Douglas will be remembered in this community as he used to spend a great deal of his time with his grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. MO Keller of Yeddo – kbz.
