WILLIAMSPORT — Marion Augustus
Jordan, 89, a resident of rural Williamsport, died at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, Jan.
3, 2001 in Country Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. He had been a patient for
one week. He was born July 6, 1911 in Warren County, the son of William H. and
Liza Verden Jordan. He married Ardith Irene Ramsey Sept. 17, 1929 in Covington.
She survives. He had lived in Danville, Peoria and Chicago, Ill. He attended
Danville High School. He was employed as a machinist for Argonne National
Laboratory in Lemont, Ill., retiring in 1976. He had previously worked at
DuPont, Newport, and as a carpenter in the Williamsport area. He was an active
member of the Presbyterian Church at Marshfield, having served as elder,
treasurer and as a member of the session. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and loved
to read. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a son, William (Marian) Jordan,
rural Williamsport; two daughters, Muriel L. (Homer) Mullins, Danville, Ill.
and Sharon A. (Gene) Butler, West Lebanon; six grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marian
Jean; a grandson, Roger Butler; two sisters, Hazel Cooper and Nellie Smith; and
a brother, Charles Stanley Jordan. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in
Fisher Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Patricia H. Kuhs officiating.
Burial was in West Lebanon Cemetery. –
