NEWTOWN — Linna B. (White) Jones, 94, formerly of Newtown, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2001 in St. Clare Medical Center, Crawfordsville. She was born June 25, 1906 in Jasper County, the daughter of Henry Kysor and Anna Mohr White. She married Glenn S. Jones Sept. 4, 1929 in Lafayette. He preceded in death April 6, 1967. She was raised in Wolcott, graduating from Wolcott High School in 1924. She graduated from Lafayette Business College. She lived in Newtown from 1929 until moving to her daughter's home east of Hillsboro in 1993. She had been a resident of the Lane House in Crawfordsville since August 3, 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Union Christian Church, west of Newtown; Fern Chapter #194 O.E.S. (now affiliated with the Hillsboro O.E.S.), serving as worthy matron in 1961; past mother advisor for the Newtown Rainbow; Pythian Sisters, formerly of Newtown and Hillsboro, having served as chief; former member of Richland Township Home Economics Club; and was the former treasurer for the Coal Creek Cemetery Association. Survivors include: two daughters, Nancy (Joseph) Schleter, Newtown and Nina (Lynn) Nixon, Hillsboro; a son, Harold L. Jones, Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Wyatt and Greg Jones, Annette Ryan, Deneice Harris, William, Jeffrey and Kurtis Schleter, Sondra Nixon; eight great-grandchildren, Zeni, Amy, Scott, Meg and Joey Schleter, Matthew and Sara Ryan and Blake Miles; a step great-grandson, Joshua Toledo; and two step great-greatgrandchildren, Jasmine Toledo and Joshua Toledo II. She was also preceded in death by two infants sons; two sisters, Jessie Kraft and Milla White; six brothers, Claude, Gilbert, William, George, Eugene and Corwin White; and a great-granddaughter, Alexis Miles. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. Phillip Crubaugh officiating. Burial was in Coal Creek Cemetery at Union Christian Church, west of Newtown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coal Creek Cemetery Association. – jlr
