WILLIAMSPORT — James W. Jones Sr., 57, 217 Cedar St., Williamsport, died at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2000 in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in ill health for one year. He was born in Lawrenceville, Ill. Oct. 11, 1942, the son of James T. and Mildred M. (Staley) Savage Jones. He married Margaret “Peggy” Cariveau Dec. 17, 1960 in Larimore, N. D., who survives. He was raised and attended school in Vincennes. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving during the Viet Nam and Cuban Crisis. He was stationed in North Dakota, Missouri, Hawaii and California. He had resided in Williamsport for the past 25 years. He worked as a mill operator at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica, retiring in 1999 due to his health. He attended the Seven Day Adventist Church in Vincennes and Danville, Ill. He enjoyed fishing, genealogy, woodworking and was an avid I.U. fan. Survivors, besides the wife, include: his father, James T. Jones, Sheridan; two sons, James W. Jones Jr., West Lebanon and Michael Jones, Williamsport; four daughters, Teresa “Teri’ Boat, Donna (Arlie) Mullins, Diana (Ervin) Collins and Christie Jones, all of Williamsport; six sisters, Clara Mae Webber and Golda McKee, both of Vincennes, Betty Phillips, Sheridan, Patty (Donald) Easton, Brookfield, Ill., Zella (Troy) Hacker, Zionsville, Anita (Rodger) Bird, Canton, Mich.; a brother, David Jones, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and eight grandchildren, Nicole and Ashlie Mullins, Justin Davis, Christopher and Rebecca Collins, Craig and Cara Jones, and Danny Boat. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial with military gravesite services will be in V.A. National Cemetery, Danville, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. – jlr
