NEWTOWN - A Newtown man was fatally injured Thursday morning in a freak farm accident near Monroe, Ind. Glenn S. Jones, 60, was installing equipment for a silo on the George Gick farm near the intersection of U.S. 52 and Ind. 28 in Tippecanoe County, when a large boom being used in the installation broke. It fell, striking him and breaking his neck. Mr. Jones, a Newtown farmer, sold Bloomfield silos and Van Dusen feeder equipment. Two assistants, Linn Quigle and John Bacon both of Newtown, escaped injury in the accident. Mr. Jones was born Feb. 18, 1907, a son of Alonzo and Viola Suiter Jones. He had lived all his life on a farm four miles southwest of here. He was married to Linna White in Lafayette Set. 4, 1929. He was a member of the Union Christian Church, Richland Lodge F&AM, Newtown K. of P. Lodge and the Newtown Chapter OES. Surviving are the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Schleter of Greenfield and Mrs. Lynn Nixon of Hillsboro; a son, S-Sgt. Harold L. Jones, stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Carl of Wingate and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.
