Elinor Maxiene Jones, 69, of 409
Maple St., died at 5 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 1994 in Home Hospital in
Lafayette. She had been in ill health six month. Born Aug. 18, 1924, in
Fountain County, she lived in Newtown, Mellott and Lafayette before moving to
Attica 47 years ago. She attended Attica High School and was a homemaker. She
married James Frank Jones on June 15, 1940, in Covington. He retired from
Western and Southern Insurance Agency and is the Veterans Service officer for
Fountain County. Mrs. Jones was a member of Eagles 2596 Auxiliary, and Veterans
of Foreign Wars Post 3318 Auxiliary. Surviving with her husband are three sons,
James F. Jones Jr. of Cicero, Phillip D. Jones of Indianapolis and Kenneth A.
Jones of Attica; her father and stepmother, John and Emma Hughes of Newtown; a
sister, Mrs. Jeannine Minick of Lafayette; and a brother, Raymond Hughes of Los
Angeles; 5 granddaughters; and 3 grandsons. Visitation was at Maus Funeral
Home, Attica, 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 1994. VFW Auxiliary and Eagles
Auxiliary memorial services at 8 p.m. Funeral service was in Maus Chapel 2 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 17, 1994. The Rev. Harvey Lange officiated. Interment in Newtown
Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her mother, a son, David L. Jones, and a
sister, Rose Mary Hughes. – jlr
