Clarence E. Jones, 69, well known resident of the Kingman area died unexpectedly of a heart attack Sunday evening. Old friends had called on Mr. and Mrs. Jones and had just left when he was fatally stricken. The Jones’ moved to their farm on Rt 1 Kingman in 1940 from Danville, Ill where he retired after 25 years as postal clerk in the Danville Post Office. While in this work, Mr. Jones served 7 years as an officer in the State Federation of Post Office Clerk as well as heading the Danville Federation. He also was active in orchestra work and served as president of Local 90 of the Musicians Union. Among other affiliations at the time were the Scottish Rite Consistory, Mohammed Shrine of Peoria, Illinois, Further Light Masonic Lodge, Gao Grotto and Kiwanis Club. He also played in the Consistory, Shrine and Gao Bands. After moving to this community Mr. Jones worked actively in the Farm Bureau. He had served as membership chairman. During the past 5 years a heart condition prevented further participation in community affairs. Mr. Jones was a native of Catlin, Ill born June 19, 1890 to Albert F. and Clara Jones. He was married in Catlin Jan 1, 1914 to Eva Weisiger. She survives with an aunt, Mrs. Fannie Brazelton of Chicago and several cousins. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wed at Woodrow Funeral Home with Rev. Mayoh of the Kingman Christian Church of which Mr. Jones was a member and the Rev. George Green of Linden officiating. Interment was in the Jones Grove Cemetery at Catlin. – kbz
