Funeral services for Alvin Jones, 60, who died Thursday at his new home at the west edge of town were held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Veedersburg Evangelical United Brethren Church. Masonic services were conducted by the Yeddo Lodge, 636 F&AM. Mr. Jones who had resided in St. Albans, Vt 15 years came to Veedersburg last May to build a new home which he had just completed. While here he had been residing at the home of a sister. He and his wife had planned to make their home in Veedersburg and furniture was to arrive from Vermont Monday. Mr. Jones attended Wabash College and served in the Army during World War I and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Yeddo. He was born in July 1898 near Kingman the son of Calvin and Nancy Lindley Jones. He was married in 1942 to Edna Muir. Surviving are his wife; four brothers, Earl, Wayne, Loren and Gerald all of the Kingman community and a sister, Mrs. Aline Reed of Veedersburg Rt 1. The Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. – kbz
