NEWTOWN - Mrs. Myrtle Johnston, 79, of near Newtown, died at noon Tuesday in Home Hospital at Lafayette. She had been seriously ill several months. She was a member of Newtown Presbyterian Church and had been a resident of near Newtown for 54 years. Mrs. Johnston and her husband moved here from Whiteland. Born March 27, 1893, at Harrodsburg, Ky., she was a daughter of Beverly and Lillie Ludwick Davis. On Nov. 27, 1915, she married, Henry Johnston, who died Jan. 27, 1967. Surviving are a son, Raymond of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter, Mrs. Dallis (Delena) McCauley of Newtown; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph Morris of Indianapolis and Mrs. Leona Gardner of Greenwood; two brothers, Earl Davis of Greenwood and Taylor Davis of Whiteland; two granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Crumly-Williams Funeral Home at Hillsboro, with Rev. Peter Heemstra officiating. Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Thursday. - jlr
