Funeral services for Lora F. Johnson, age 48, of Dana, a former resident of Covington and Lodi, who was killed in a one-car accident on a gravel road four miles east of Perrysville, were held Wednesday afternoon, Jan 11, at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Ralph Johnson officiated and burial was in the Thomas Cemetery, south of Cayuga. Mr. Johnson was Fountain County's first fatality of 1967. State Police found his body in his overturned car Sunday evening, Jan 8, but report the crash occurred Saturday afternoon, sometime between the hours of 2:30 and 5:30. The accident was investigated by State Trooper Lloyd Jennings, Fountain County Deputy Sheriff George E. Cruea and Fountain County Coroner Robert B. Shelby. Mr. Johnson was born May 25, 1918, in Parke County, the son of William and Pearl Cox Johnson. He was married April 23, 1936 to Alma Davis, who survives. He had been a resident of Dana for two years. He lived at Lodi for nine years and formerly resided in Covington. He had been employed by the Hyster Co., in Danville, Ill., and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are ; nine children, Mrs. Alma Stevens of Tangier, Mrs. Joyce Simmons of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Pvt. Lora Johnson Jr. of Ft. Benning, Ga., Mrs. Loretta Elliott of Danville, Ill., Larry, Robert Lee, Teresa, Allen and Kathy Lynn, at home; four sisters, Mrs. Mary LaBaw, Mrs. Grace Bennett, Mrs. Violet Little and Mrs. Olive Holycross, all of Danville; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter and one brother.

Covington, Ind.-- (CNS) Services for Lora Franklin Johnson, 48, of Dana, Ind., Route 2, who died Saturday in an auto crash, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. (Accident story on page 1) The Rev. Ralph Johnson will officiate and burial will be in Thomas Cemetery near Newport. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Tuesday. Mr. Johnson had been employed 11 years at the Hyster Co. in Danville. He formerly had resided at Lodi nine years and Covington Route 1 for 19 years.' JOHNSON Source - C-N Covington Bureau - 7 Jan 1967 Covington, Ind. - The crushed and frozen body of a Dana, Ind., Route 2 man, father of 9, was found pinned beneath his overturned auto about 26 1/2 hours after the accident occurred. The wrecked care was in a field beside a well-traveled county road. Dead is Lora Franklin Johnson, 48, an employee of Hyster Co. in Danville. The accident occurred one mile east and 3.8 miles south of Perrysville on the Silver Island Road. Mr. Johnson had been visiting relatives and left the home of a niece, Mrs. Pat Ping of Covington Route 1 about 4:15 p.m. Saturday. A neighbor reported he had seen an overturned auto when he passed the site about 4:30 Saturday, but did not see the body at that time. The body was found about 6:45 p.m. Sunday by members of the family when they righted the auto. Police reported that several persons had gone to the overturned auto, but because the body was completely underneath the wreckage, no one was aware that the body was there. Fountain County Coroner Robert B. Shelby reported that Mr. Johnson died instantly of a crushed chest after his 1952 auto left the road and overturned, throwing him out. He had resided on Dana Route 2 for two years and had previously resided 9 years in Lodi, Ind., and 19 years on Route 1, Covington. The accident was investigated by Sheriff Art Cruea, Deputy George Cruea and State Trooper Lloyd Jennings. The body is at the Bodine * Shelby Funeral Home in Covington.
