What is your life?  Think!  “Brief as a span, swifter than the weaver’s shuttle, a vapor which appeareth for a little while and then vanishes away.”

The death of neighbors and friends reminds us of the shortness of life, and so terminated the life of our young friend Hattie May Johnson, Nov.14 1907.  She entered upon this life Oct. 24 1878, near Stilesville, Hendricks Co, In.   Much of her life was spent upon the farm ”near to natures heart,” and the lesson she learned from nature together with the training of pious parents, helped to develop a life of true moral worth, which endeared her to those who knew her best. Not being satisfield with morality alone, she sought and found Christ in the forgiveness of sins in a meeting at Greencastle by Rev. Tarr in 1896.  A bright and lasting conversion which will shed its influence for good as long as the members of her home shall live. She contracted her illness two years ago last January, she was patient in her sufferings and longed to live for the benefit of those she loved, but she found the struggle of life was too great and it was well to depart and be at rest and peace. So when her spirit took its flight from Kingman, Nov. 14th, 1907 it left a record of 29 years and 3 weeks.  The remains were taken by C. M. Spencer from here to Clayton, Ill., where on Sunday morning at 10 o’clock the funeral was conducted by Mrs. Leannah Hobson, formerly of this place. Enterment was made in the Clayton cemetery.
