Carl Johnson of rural Ridge Farm, Illinois, age 77, died Friday morning, July 9, in the Danville Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born in Humrick, Illinois, July 6, 1912, the son of William H. and Mary C. Stahl Johnson. April 11, 1944, he married Bernadette Carpenter, who survives. A member of the Lodi Free Holiness Church, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a coal miner and a farmer and later was a nursing attendant for eight years with the Elgin Illinois State Hospital.
Also surviving are three daughters, Darlene Edwards of Rossville, Illinois, Carla Jacobson of Westville, Illinois, and Mary Ann McCoy of rural Ridge Farm, Illinois; three sons William H., Carl Lee, and Mark T., all of Ridge Farm; three sisters, Pansy Holycross and Elsie Riley, both Of RR 2, Kingman, and Clara Vacketta of Cayuga; and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Lodi Free Holiness Church with Rev. Gleason Hawn officiating. Military graveside rites by Cayuga American Legion Post and burial were in Miller Cemetery near Lodi. DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home at Cayuga was in charge of services. – thanks to S
