Alma M. Johnson 78 formerly of Cayuga died at 9:50 a.m. Friday Aug 21, 1998 at Covington Manor Health Care Center, Covington where she had lived the last six years. Born April 14, 1920 in Stringtown, she was the daughter of Ross and Maude Hack Davis. She married Lora Franklin Johnson on April 30, 1939 (note his papemortuary.com listing says 4-29-1936) at Horseshoe. He preceded her in death in 1967(note: 7 January). Surviving are five daughters, Alma Jean (Bob) Stevens of Tangier; Joyce Marguerite (Robert) Addington of Chrisney; Loretta Marie (Curtis) Elliott of Richmond; Teresa Morris of Montezuma; Kathy (Everett) Poole of West Lebanon; four sons, Bud (Janice) Johnson of Lodi; Larry Gene (Ellen) Johnson of Cayuga; Robert Lee (Linda) Johnson of Eugene; Allan (Sheila) Johnson of Cayuga; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and four sisters, Fauniel (Sylvanus) Daniels of Montezuma; Laurie Belle Davis and Doris Thelma Davis both of Stringtown; Mildred Williamson of Perrysville. She was preceded in death by two daughters, two sons, two sisters and six brothers. Mrs. Johnson was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church near Perrysville and Cayuga American Legion Auxiliary Post #263. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, hunting mushrooms, fishing and most of all being with her family. Visitation was Monday at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home with Legion Auxiliary memorial service. Service ther eon Tuesday with Pastor Paul Kent officiating. Interment in Thomas Cemetery, Newport.
