Delbert Junior Jinkins, 70, of Veedersburg, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2000 at his residence. Born December 25, 1929 in Catlin, Illinois, he was the son of the late Delbert and Jennie Bernice (Jones) Jinkins Sr. His marriage was to Suzanne Mae Burton on October 27, 1963 in Danville. She survives. A 1947 graduate of Catlin High School, Delbert had been a resident of the Cooper’s Chapel area since 1948. He had attended the Central Christian Church in Danville, Ill, and was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. A former Boy Scout and Order of the Arrow, he served as Scout Master in Covington 1979-80. He enjoyed woodworking and horses. Also surviving, are: two sons, James Delbert Jinkins of Wallace and David (Mary) Jinkins of Veedersburg; a daughter, Katherine S. Jinkins of Rantoul, Ill.; two sisters, Delores (Richard) Fox of Covington and Susan Kucharczyk; and two granddaughters, Tamar and Jessica Jinkins. Visitation was Monday at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Graveside service on Tuesday at Lower Mound Cemetery with Rev. Tom A. Hunter and Rev. Phillip Hayes officiating. Memorials may be made to Provena USMC Dialysis Unit. – jlr

VEEDERSBURG — Delbert Junior Jinkins, 70, 1420 West State Road 32, Veedersburg, died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000 at his residence. He was born Dec. 25, 1929 in Catlin, Ill., the son of Delbert and Jennie Bernice Jones Jinkins, Sr. He married Suzanne M. Burton Oct. 27, 1963 in Danville, Ill. She survives. He was a 1947 graduate of Catlin High School and a resident of the Cooper's Chapel area since 1948. He had attended Central Christian Church in Danville, Ill. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a former Boy Scout and Order of the Arrow. He served as Scoutmaster at Covington from 1979-1990. He enjoyed woodworking and horses. Survivors, besides the wife, include: two sons, James Delbert Jinkins, Wallace and David (Mary) Jinkins, Veedersburg; a daughter, Katherine S. Jinkins, Rantoul, Ill.; two sisters, Delores (Richard) Fox, Covington and Susan Kucharczyk; and two granddaughters, Tamar Jinkins and Jessica Jinkins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Lower Mound Cemetery, Covington, with the Revs. Tom A. Hunter and Phillip Hayes officiating. Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Provena USMC Dialysis Unit. – jlr
