JEFFRIES, Ross - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Ross Jeffries, 83, a retired farmer who had been a resident of Hillsboro and vicinity for the past 44 years died at 6:50 Monday April 4 at the home of his son, Clyde Jeffries of Hillsboro.  He had been in declining health for several years and had been seriously ill the past 3 weeks.  Born July 13, 1876 in Pierce, Ky he was the son of John and Melvina Atwell Jeffries. He was married in Jeffersonville, Ind on Dec 12, 1899 to Mattie Ellen Eudy who preceded him in death in August 1938.  Survivors include two sons, Ernest and Clyde both of Hillsboro and a daughter, Mrs. Zilpha Smith of Covington and 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  Mr. Jeffries was a member of the Methodist Church at Hiseville, Ky.   He came here from Cave City, Ky.  Funeral services were held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Homer Cole, pastor of Hillsboro Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. – kbz
