Chester Robert Jean, 68, of Attica Route 2, died Monday, Feb. 28, 1977 in Williamsport Community Hospital. He had been in ill health for five years. Born Jan. 28, 1909, in Saltillo, Ind., he was the son of Albert Parson and Aletta Whittet Jean. He had resided most of his life in the Attica area and had attended Attica schools. He was a foreman core maker at Harrison Steel Casting and later worked in the pattern shop. He retired after 45 years of service. He was married April 6, 1930 in Independence to Evelyn Winkler, who survives. Mrs. Jean is the owner of Evelyn's restaurant in Attica. Mr. Jean had served in the National Guard years ago. He attended the Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence and was a member of the Greenhill Masonic Lodge 455 F & AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Other survivors include four sons, John of Attica Route 1, Thomas and Jerry, both of Attica Route 2, and Robert of Attica Rt. 4; two daughters, Mrs. Doloris Harmon and Mrs. Diane Balenseifer, both of Martinsville; three brothers, Walter of Attica Route 4, Melvin of Tucson, Ariz., and Clarence of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Florence Galloway of Independence; 20 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services at the Dale Maus Funeral Home in Attica, with the Rev. Joe Shryock officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. --waw
