Eli C. Jarred was born in Fountain County, Indiana July 15th, 1846. At the age of 14 he with his parents moved to Kansas where he resided at the time of his death. Dec 21, 1873 he was united in marriage to Dena Maddox and to them were born two children, William who lives with his parents and Mrs. Mittie Worlein of Miami County, Kansas. About 20 years ago he made a profession of Faith in Christ through the labors of the church of Christ although not united with the church until the time of his death he believed firmly in the teachings and the doctrine of the above church. His death occurred at 9:20 a.m. Oct 22, 1906 at his home in Lincoln Twp, Linn Co KS after an illness of 11 days. Besides a wife, son and daughter, he leaves a twin brother, Elias who resides in the same community also two sisters, Mrs. Barbra Baker of Bates Co, MO and Mrs. Nancy Rune of Oklahoma. Having lived in this part of the state for so many years he leaves a large circle of friends and acquaintances who always esteemed him for his uprightness of character, his kindness to all in time of need and his straightforward way of dealing with his fellow man. One who has lived such a moral life that is worthy of example will be greatly missed by the entire community. Thus the family loses a kind husband and a loving father, the community a good neighbor and brother and the country sustains the loss of a noble citizen.
