Lafayette, July 12 -- Arista D. Jarred, 60, died suddenly Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock at the family home, one mile north of Octagon, of a heart attack. Born Feb. 11, 1873 in Fountain County, he was the son of George and Mary Jarred. He lived in Fountain County until 1919, when he and his family moved to the Pretty Prairie community, later moving to the Seegar farm where he died. Besides his widow he leaves three children, Mrs. Bessie West, of Lafayette; Mrs. Madge Martin, of the Indiana State Soldiers' Home, and Miss Ruth Jarred, of Joliet, Ill.; Epha Jackson, of Chicago, a stepson; four grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Hutts, of Charleston, Ill.; Mrs. Charles Miller of Terre haute, and Mrs. Willa Shielder, of Veedersburg. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence with the Rev. George E. Hartz, of Battle Ground, officiating. Friends may call at the residence after Thursday noon.
