William A. Jackson, 81, died at his home in Tangier at 8:30 am. Saturday, March 29, 1952. He had been ill for one year. Mr. Jackson was born in Liberty Twp, Dec 5, 1870, son of John W. and Hana Hobson Jackson. He was a life resident of this community and a retired farmer. He married Mattiel Florence Rabb in 1891 at Tangier. She preceded him in death in 1936. A son, Gordon R. also preceded him in death, killed in the Argonne Forest in WWI. Surviing are 7 children: Harry of Rockville; Mrs. Kathleen Zackmire and Mrs. Ruth Nolan, both of Kingman, Mrs. Margarite Mershon, Mrs.Mildred Ray and Ivan Jackson, all of Tangier and Frank of Precott, AZ; two brothers, Alvin, Tangier; Carl, Jennings, Ok; a sister, Elizabeth Bryant, Danville, Ill and 17 grandchildren and 18 greats.

In the book of St. John we find the words of Jesus spoken to his apostles, which are in part, "In my Father's house are many mansions if it were not so, I would have told you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, that where I am there you may be also." William A. Jackson was born Dec 5, 1870 the s/o John W. and Hannah Hobson Jckson in Liberty Twp, Parke Co near Tangier. When he grew to manhood and attended a rural school known as No 9 along with his 3 sisters and 4 brothers and received a good education in that time. He was united in marriage Jan 22, 1891 to Mattie Florence Rabb. To this union 8 children blessed their home, all living except one son, Gorden R, who gave his life in WWI Sept 30, 1918 in the battle of Argonne Forest, France. "Bill" as he was familiarly called, was industrious and honest, a farmer by trade and though his eye sight was failing he lived alone in his home 1/2 miles west of Tangier since the death of his wife Jan 28, 1936, except for a short time. He was stricken Wednesday night and just as the sun had risen in the Eastern Horizon Sat urday, March 29, 1952 he peacefully fell asleep at the age of 81 years 3 months 23 days leaving to mourn his going 3 sons Harry of Rockville; Ivan of Tangier and Frank of Prescot, AZ; four daughters Mrs. Kathleen Zackmire and Mrs. Ruth Nolen of Kingman; Mrs. Mrguerite Mershon and Mrs. Mildred Ray of Tangier, two brothers, Alvin of Tangier and Carl of Jennings, Ok; one sister Mrs. Elizbeth Lorinda Bryant of Danville; Il; 17 grandch, 18 greats, several. nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Another pioneeer has gone to his rewrd leaving a life recod that will long be cherished by his family and friends. ..Funeral services wer eheld at his home and conductedc by the Rev. Basil Grimes of TH; April 1. Music was furnished by Mrs. Paul Ray Sr and Paul Ray Jr. Pall bearers were grandsons and nephews, and flower bearers were granddaus and nieces.
