Mrs Minta Jackson, 87, of the Portland Arch community on Covington Route 3, died at 5:45 a.m. February 26, 1975, at Meadow Heights Nursing Home in Williamsport. she had been a patient in Community Hospital and the nursing home since September. Born Feb 26, 1888 at Covington, she was the daughter of James and Adella Caragie Ward. On Aug 1, 1920, in Covington, she was married to Ellwood Jackson, who died in January of 1959. She had cooked at the Rob Roy School near Attica until it closed. She was a member of the Hedrick Christian Church. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Della Kennedy of Lafayette and Mrs. Margaret Gushwa of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Beulah) Moffet of Williamsport and Mrs. Clarence (Dorotha) Spear of Attica; a brother Elvis Ward in New Mexico; a sister, Mrs. Clista Van Hook of Rob Roy; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Dale Maus Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joe Shrock officiating. Burial will be in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.

Minta May Jackson, 87, Rt. 3, Covington (Portland Arch), died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 1975, at the Meadow Heights Nursing Center in Williamsport where she had been a patient since August 18, 1974.
She was born at Covington February 26, 1888, daughter of James and Adella Carnagie Ward. She lived most of her life at Portland Arch and all of it in Fountain County. She was married August 1, 1920, at Covington to Ellwood Jackson, who preceded her in death in January 1959. She was a housewife and former cook at the Rob Roy school prior to its closing. She was a member of the Hedrick Christian Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Della Kennedy, Lafayette; Mrs. Margaret Gushwa, Grand Rapids, Michigan; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Stanley (Beulah) Moffet, Williamsport; Mrs. Clarence (Dorotha) Spear, Attica; one brother, Elvis Ward, New Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Clista VanHook, Rob Roy; 14 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death in 1955.
Funeral services were held at the Dale Maus Funeral Home in Attica at 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 28, with Rev. Joe Shryock officiating. Burial was in the Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. – thanks to S
