JACKSON, Margarette Jackson

Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Mrs. Margarette J. Jackson, 88, of Miami, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1977 in the Lutheran Memorial Center in Miami. She had been ill about a year. Born Aug. 14, 1888, in Hoopeston, Ill., she was the daughter of W. E. and Maggie Heid Jackson. She had formerly resided in Lafayette and Attica before moving to Miami in 1966. She had graduated from Covington High in 1907. She had been a housemother and cook at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity for seven yrs. at Purdue University; head pastry cook at Purdue's first residence hall and had worked with students for 30 years. She had been cafeteria supervisor at Harrison Steel Casting Co. in Attica for five years. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Lafayette, Attica Order of Eastern Star _Chapter 125, of which she was past matron; White Shrine of Lafayette, and honorary Mother of Student International Fraternity House at Purdue. She also was a member of the War Mothers Club of Attica. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. K. E. "Hellen" Brelsford of Miami; a son, Tom Orea Jackson of Wittenberg, Wis.; a brother, D. Earl Jackson of Veedersburg Route 1; a sister Mrs. Albert (Julia) Pippenger of Frankfort; and a granddaughter. Services at the Dale Maus Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Jones officiating. Burial in Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg.  --waw
