Covington- Ellwood William Jackson, 72, a resident of the Portland Arch community in Fountain County 38 years, died Saturday afternoon in his home at Portland Arch. Born April 14, 1886, north of Danville, Ill., Mr. Jackson was the son of William and Maggie Hyde Jackson. He was married twice, first to Ruth French, who preceded him in death , and on Aug 2, 1920 to Minta Ward, who survives. During his early life Mr. Jackson was engaged in farming. Later he worked for the Harrison Steel Co. in Attica. He retired as an employee of the steel company 12 years ago. Surviving, besides the widow, are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Kittle of Williamsport and Mrs. Dorothy Spear of Attica; three grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Della Kennedy of Lafayette and Mrs. Margaret Gushwa of Michigan; three sisters, Margaret Jackson of Lafayette, and Kate Coats and Julia Pittenger, both of Frankfort; and two brothers, Louis Jackson of Marshall and Earle Jackson of Veedersburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington. Burial will be at Rockfield Cemetery near Veedersburg. Rev. Floyd Kirkpatrick will be the officiating minister. Friends may call at the funeral home. - kbz

Elwood William Jackson, 72 of the Portland Arch Community died Saturday at his residence.  Born April 12, 1886, he was the son of William and Maggie Hyde Jackson.  He was first married to Ruth French who preceded him in death. He was later married on Aug 2, 1920 to Minta Ward who survives. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Kettle of Williamsport and Mrs. Dorothy Spear of Attica; two step daughters, Mrs. Della Kennedy of Lafayette and Mrs. Margaret Gushwa in Michigan; two brothers, Lou of Marshall and Earl of Veedersburg; three sisters Mrs. Margaret Jackson; Mrs. Kate Coats and Mrs. Julia Pipenger three grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Services were held Tuesday in Covington with burial in Rockfield cemetery.
