Alverta Mae Wolfe Jackson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Wolfe was born in Parke County, Indiana Feb 28, 1872 and died in Chicago, Illinois Sept 22, 1944 at the age of 72 years 6 months and 25 days. She was married to Elihu Jackson July 26, 1895 and to them were born six children, two of whom, preceded their mother in death, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson lived in Parke County all their married life, being honest and industrious citizens and after the death of her husband 15 years ago, Mrs. Jackson went to Chicago to live with her daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Porche and although she often visited and was always welcome in the home of any of her children, she called Carolyn’s “home.” She joined the Christian Church in Montezuma when a young girl and ever afterward lived a Christian life. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and was cheerful, bearing her suffering from long illness with no complaint and is now at rest, free from pain and sorrow. She is survived by four children: Carolyn Porche at whose home she died and Paul Jackson of Chicago; David Jackson of South Bend and Mrs. Vivian Miller of Tangier; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Boos of Montezuma and other relatives and friends, who will miss her, but who will always cherish her memory. – kbz
