Attica—Veda L. Alkire Jacks, 74, 204 N. Perry St., Attica, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 1989 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. She had been a patient there five days and in ill health three weeks.
She was born Sept. 12, 1914 in St. Joseph, Ill., the daughter of Wilbur and Lillie Steele Alkire. She had lived in West Lebanon several years and in Attica for the past 10 years. She was married Sept. 3, 1932 in Michigan City to Russell John Jacks, who preceded her in death in 1951. He had been the head melter at Harrison Steel Castings Co., Attica, for several years.
She was a homemaker and a member of the former Federated Church in West Lebanon.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Linda) Booe, Attica, and Mrs. Ralph (Peggy) Billingsley, Batesville, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. Vera Stinnett, Corbin, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fisher Funeral Home Chapel, West Lebanon, with the Rev. John Buckley officiating. Burial will be in West Lebanon Cemetery. – thanks to S
