Waynetown, Jan 1 – A service flag will be dedicated Sunday morning at Ingersoll Church for Ernest Ellis, Gwendolyn McKee, Paul Guy Ingersoll, Lloyd Ingersoll, Ralph Ingersoll and Herschel Ingersoll. The last four are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Ingersoll who reside just over the line in Fountain County.  A service flag will also be dedicated Sunday morning at the Baptist Church by Rev. Gar Albritten.

Herschel Ingersoll, 51, WWII veteran and retired teacher and farmer died at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis early Thursday morning. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past 7 months.  Mrs. Ingersoll was born on a farm near Waynetown the son of Clayton and Rebecca Moffett Ingersoll. He was one of a family of 9 children.  As a youth, Mr. Ingersoll attended Waynetown HS. Following his graduation there he entered Wabash College and later attended Indiana University where he was graduated. He was a member of the class of 1925 at Wabash.  For a number of years following his graduation Mr. Ingersoll was a school teacher. He was with the Waynetown schools for approximately 15 years, resigned his position as principal to enter the Navy in WWII.  Four brother and four sisters survive. Brothers are Paul Ingersoll and Ralph Ingersoll both of Hillsboro; James Ingersoll of Wingate and Lloyd Ingersoll of Waynetown who is employed in Crawfordsville with RR Donnelley & Sons.  Sisters are Mrs. Ralph Bounnell of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Samuel Woodruff of Frankfort; Mrs. Harrell Johnson of Covington and Mrs. Williams Munns of Bloomington. Funeral arrangements were incomplete Thursday afternoon. The body will be at Grenard & Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. – kbz
