Clayton Ingersoll, a well known Fountain County farmer and stock dealer, 73 died at Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville at 3:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon Aug 5 (1944) after an illness of one week. He spent his entire life in the Ingersoll community SE of Hillsboro having been born at the family residence where he was residing at the time of his last illness. He was born July 20, 1871, and early in life was married to Rebecca N. Moffett who survives him. He was a member of the Ingersoll Christian Church and was active in the political organizations of his community. The survivors include the widow and the following children: Mrs. SM Woodruff, Bluffton; Ralph Hillsboro; Mrs. WD Munns, Bloomington; Lloyd at home; Mrs. Ralph Bounnell, Crawfordsville; James Wingate; Mrs. Harold Johnson, Covington; Herschel, Petty Officer of the US Navy located in Rhode Island; 1st Lt. Paul G. Ingersoll of the US Army located somewhere in the European war theatre; one grandchild, Judith Ann Ingersoll of Hillsboro. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Hesler of Albuquerque, NM and Mrs. Elmina Foxworthy of Monte Vista, Colorado and a brother, Joseph of Indianapolis. The Rev. Guy Tremaine of Waynetown conducted the funeral service held at the late family residence at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, and burial in Masonic Cemetery at Waynetown.

Mr. Ingersoll has been an active farmer and stock dealer all of his adult life. His entire life has been spent in the Ingersoll community, having been born at the family residence where he was residing when death came. He was born July 20, 1871.
