Hillsboro - John W. Hyatt, 88, died at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at his home here after a long illness. He was a retired sawmill and threshing machine operator. Mr. Hyatt was a son of George and Hannah Bryant Hyatt and was born Oct 15, 1872 in Shawnee Township near Stone Bluff. He was married April 26, 1899, to Etha Keefer. She died in March 1960. They lived on a farm where he also operated a thresher and sawmill, until 1909 when they moved to this community. Mr. Hyatt continued in the threshing and sawmill businesses here and for several years he was employed as an engineer at Remington. He retired in 1948. He was a member of Union Church west of Newtown. Survivors include a son, Harry of Lafayette; two daughters, Bernice at home and Mrs. Bessie Beck of Waynetown; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Hall of near Veedersburg and four grandchildren and 9 greats. A daughter, Mary Alice Brown and a son George are deceased. Friends may call Saturday afternoon and evening at the Crumley Funeral Home where services are announced for 3 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Homer Cole and Rev. John Coil officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
