HILLSBORO — James Carter Hutchins, 89, formerly of Hillsboro, died at 5:18 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 1999 at Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. He had been in ill health for the past month. Born Nov. 2, 1909 in Hillsboro, he was the son of Dan and Myrtle Carter Hutchins. He was formerly married in 1946 to Audrey Wolfe in Crawfordsville. He resided most of his life in Hillsboro. He was employed as a clerk for the Hillsboro Post Office until his retirement in 1974. He then relocated to Tucson, Ariz., and resided there until moving to the nursing center in 1993. He had served overseas in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Hillsboro Christian Church and the V.F.W. Post 3318 of Attica. Survivors include: sister, Josephine (Charles) Clawson, Attica; a niece, Betty (William) Ford Crane, Sylvania, Ohio; two great-nieces; and a great-nephew. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Hutchins and Ruth Ford. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro, with the Rev. John DeSanto officiating. Burial with military gravesite services will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hillsboro Christian Church. – jlr
