HURTT, Katherine Baird - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mrs. Katherine B. Hurtt, 77, of 103 E. Washington, Attica died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1974 at St Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette. She had been admitted a few hours earlier. She had been ill for six years. Born Aug. 16, 1397 in Morrison, Ill., she was the daughter of Joseph and Agnes Taylor Baird. On May 16, 1932 in Eureka, Ill., she was married to Joseph Hurtt who died Oct. 10, 1963. A resident of Attica from 1953 to 1964 at which time she moved to Laguna Beach, Calif., returning to Attica in June of this year. Her husband was an administrator in show business being associated with Barnum and Bailey, Cole Brothers circus, various traveling shows and carnivals. Mrs. Hurtt has been a bookkeeper for the show companies. She attended the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a nephew, Bill Powers of Lansing, Mich. and a cousin, Mrs. Oral Kaufman of Hanover, Ill. Graveside services and burial were at the Riverside Cemetery in Attica, with the Rev. Vernon Seaton officiating, with Maus Funeral Home in charge. -- jlr
