WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. (CNS) -- Herbert Anderson Hunter, 85, of Williamsport Route 3, died at 2:45 a. m. today (July 23, 1974) at the Community Hospital. He had been a patient one week. Born Oct. 6, 1888, in Warren County, he was the son of William A. and Maria Christman Hunter. He was married March 4, 1914, in Warren County to Shirley Clark, who survives. Mr. Hunter graduated from Attica High in 1907 and was a retired farmer. He was a charter member of the Warren County Farm Bureau. He helped to organize the Warren County Co-Op and served on the board many years. In 1936, he also helped to organize the REMC and served on that board. A Republican, he served on the Warren County Council for 14 years. In 1964, he was honored by the Soil Conservation Service as one of the first farmers to start contour plowing and waterways. He was a member of the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star and Royal Arch Lodge at Lafayette. Other survivors include two sons, Herbert H. and Robert F., both of Williamsport Route 3; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Brier of Frankfort; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Major William C. Hunter, preceded him in death. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport. The Rev. William Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in West Lebanon Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Wednesday. --typed by Walt W
