HUNT, Virgil Leroy

Virgil Leroy Hunt, age 42 well known farmer of Veedersburg was fatally injured at 9 a.m. on Wednesday march 16 in a tragic accident at his farm home. A tractor he was driving flipped over, pinning him beneath it. Mr. Hunt and a helper, William Tullis were working together in the barn lot and he had driven his tractor across a little branch stream flowing through the lot. His tractor became stuck and Mr. Hunt attempted to get the tractor out of the snow and mud by chaining a post to the rear wheels. The tractor then overturned, pinning the victim beneath it. He lived a very few minutes asking Tullis to get the second tractor on the farm to help free him but died before he could be released. Mr. Hunt was born April 9, 1917 north of Covington in Troy Township, the son of Roy S and the late Mary Bowers Hunt. He was married to Florence Smith who survives. He was a member of the Fountain Lodge No 60, Lodge 36 K of P and Methodist Church of Covington. Surviving in addition to his wife a recent polio victim are: two sons, Edward age 14 and Roy, age 10 both students in the Veedersburg schools; his father, Roy S. Hunt, Veedersburg Rt 2; two brothers, Ralph of Covington Rt 1 and Robert of Veedersburg Rt 2; three sisters, Mrs. Robert (Sylvia) Grubbs and Mrs. Merle (Elizabeth) Suiters. Both of Covington Rt 1 and Mrs. Jean Kelly of Yeddo. Friends may call at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home, Covington and funeral services will be held at the Covington Methodist Church on Sat March 19 at 2:30 p.m. – kbz
