Thornton Hunt, age 71, well known farmer who lived in Covington and community all of his life, died at 12:10 p. m. Sunday, January 31, at his home just east of Covington on the blacktop road. He had been in falling health for one year and critically ill one month. Mr. Hunt was born in Covington, Jan. 20, 1883, the son of Philip and Alora Sharon Hunt. On Oct. 29, 1912, he married Lulu Van Dorn, who survives. He had lived in his present home for 60 years and had taken an active interest in community affairs. He was a member of the Covington Methodist Church and, at the time of his death, was serving on the official board. He was also a member of Tidal Lodge 36, Knights of Pythias, of Covington. Surviving Mr. Hunt are: his widow; one son, Donald, at home; one sister, Mrs. A. E. Gamble of Covington; and one brother, Lew, of Detroit, Mich. He was preceded in death by a son, Harold. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Covington Methodist Church. The Rev. Elwood Anderson, pastor, officiated and burial, with Bodine & Shelby in charge, was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were Noel Ward, Bill Young, Bob Stonecipher, John Reed, Roy Eberle and Charles Massey. --typed by Walt W
