Sharon J. Hunt, age 65, operator of a clock repair shop over Burrin's Pharmacy on the east side of the square and commander-elect of the Fulton-Banta Post 291, American Legion, died unexpectedly at 11:45 a. m. Sunday, Aug. 7, following a sudden heart attack. Mr. Hunt was found slumped over the steering wheel of his parked car after he had driven downtown to purchase Sunday newspapers. His car was parked on the north side of Washington Street, between Sullivan Grocery and the City Building. Efforts of the Covington rescue squad and a local physician to revive him were unsuccessful. He was born April 26, 1890 in Covington, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Sharon Hunt. He was married twice, first to Florence Barkley, who preceded him in death May 14, 1940. He was married Dec. 30, 1945 to Mabel Newlin Allen, who survives. Mr. Hunt worked in Detroit, Mich., from 1911 to 1918 and enlisted in the U. S. Army on April 26, 1918. He served as a private with the 2nd Mobile Ordnance and was overseas from Sept. 1918 until Aug. 1919. He also served with the Army of Occupation in Germany and was discharged from the Army Aug. 14, 1919. Mr. Hunt was associated with his brother-in-law, James P. Hastings, in operating the Hastings and Hunt Jewelry and Drug Store for 23 years. Their store was first located where Norma’s Shop now is and was later moved to the present location of Burrin's Pharmacy. He was to have been installed as commander of the local Legion Post at its next meeting. He also was a member of Fountain Lodge No. 60, F. & A. M. Surviving Mr. Hunt, in addition to his widow, are: one sister, Mrs. Jas. P. (Edith) Hastings and one niece, Mrs. Max (Mary) Layton. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. Military rites were conducted by the Fulton Banta Post and the Rev. Walter Damer, pastor of the Covington Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery here. Pallbearers were: Rudolph Bilsland, W. H. Lykins, Herbert Parrett, Harrell H. Johnson, Robert Wilkey and Leland Moore. --typed by Walt W
