MRS. HUMPHREYS DIES AT AGE 76; FUNERAL SATURDAY WAYNETOWN
Gertrude (Gertie) Humphreys died Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. at Culver Hospital where she had been taken Monday evening after suffering a heart attack. She was born on Oct. 18, 1889, in Fountain County the daughter of William L. and Miriam Durham Rogers. On Feb. 1, 1910, she married Alfred Humphreys, who died in 1945, in Covington. Mrs. Humphreys was educated in the Sterling School in Fountain County. She was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church and a charter member of the Liberty Chapel Aid Society. Surviving are three brothers, Fred of Frankfort, Harry of Rt. 7, Crawfordsville, and Russell of Oakwood, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Raymond Mitchell and Charles Dazey of Wingate and Mrs. Earl Alward of Kingman; a niece, Helen Doan; whom she reared from infancy; two nephews, Claude Humphreys of Lancaster, Calif. And Byron Grenard of Wingate; two grand-nephews, Lance Cpl. Steven Doan of the U. S. Marines and R. Alan Doan who lived with Mrs. Humphreys. A sister, Minnie Grenard and three brothers, Frank, Harold, and Pauley preceded her in death. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown. Revs. Fred Sharp of Lebanon and Morris Finch of Waynetown will officiate. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday.
