Louis A. Humphrey, 76, of 607 S. Perry St., Attica, died in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette Friday, April 29, 1977. He had been admitted Thursday having suffered a heart attack in his home. Born May 9, 1901, in Lebanon Junction, Ky., he was the son of Adam and Ida Belle Devers Humphrey. He was married Feb. 16, 1940, in Attica to Marjorie Hayworth, who survives. Mrs. Humphrey is employed at Radio Materials Co. Formerly a resident of Louisville, Ky., he had resided in Attica the past 38 years. He attended school at Louisville, Ky. Mr. Humphrey was a member of the fire department in Louisville for 12 years and was a motorcycle patrolman in Louisville for four years. He also had been employed as a welder at Harrison Steel Casting for 29 years. He was presently a school patrolman for the Attica Consolidated School Corporation, a position he had held for the past four years. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Nevy. Mr. Humphrey was a member of the Attica Presbyterian Church. Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Bowles of Attica; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Mae Noble of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Marjorie Weaver and Mrs. Bessie Hornbeck, both of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Robert of Virginia Beach, Va. and Charles of Louisville, Ky.; and two grandchildren, Penny and Scott Bowles, both of Attica. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Serivces Sunday in the Maus Chapel, with Rev. Kenneth Burris officiating, Burial in Riverside Cemetery. The family has requested that any memorials be in the form of contributions to the Fountain County Heart Fund. --- jlr
