COVINGTON — Donna D. Hughes, 64,
died at 7:03 a.m. Sunday, June 10, 2001 in St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital
following an extended illness. She was born Sept. 12, 1936 in Stringtown, south
of Covington, the daughter of Francis A. and Lenora (Berto) Dewlen. She married
Norman D. Hughes Oct. 26, 1958 in Covington. He survives. She was a life
resident of Covington, graduating from Covington High School in 1954. She was a
secretary for 17 years for attorney Rex V. Keller and later worked for 27 years
at Covington Middle School, retiring in November 1998. She was a Fountain
County jury commissioner for several years and a member of Covington Zoning
Board. She was a member of the family night committee for the Covington
Community Foundation, First Baptist Church and choir, Wabash Valley Area Band,
Fountain County Democrat Women's Club, Walter Hoyt Post #350 American Legion
Auxiliary of Perrysville, Alpha Gamma Associate Chapter of Tri Kappa and had
served as president and on the state scholarship committee. Survivors, besides
the husband, include: her mother of Covington; a daughter, Sarah (Tim
Taflinger) Keller, Catlin, Ill.; and two grandsons, Jacob William and Cole
Anthony Keller. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services will
be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in First Baptist Church, Covington, with Pastor
Joe Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Shelby
Funeral Home, Covington, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials to Covington
Christian School or Covington Community Foundation. Envelopes available at the
