Charles E. Hughes, 78 of Danville, Ill, a former Hillsboro resident died unexpectedly Saturday morning at a Municipal Trailer Park at Tampa, Fla where he had gone in October to spend the winter months. He had been making his home with his son, Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Hughes of 1628 Franklin St since the death of his wife. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hughey Hughes and resided in this vicinity while a young man. He moved to Danville in 1902 where he was a building contractor and retired five years ago. He was a member of St. James Methodist Church and Modern Woodmen of Danville. Survivors are the son, one daughter, Mrs. Avolyn Davis of Harvey; two grandchildren and a half brother, Arthur Hughes of Hoopeston Ill. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the Barrick & Sons Funeral Home in Danville Tuesday Dec 24 with Rev. Paul Curry officiating. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery. – kbz
