Williamsport—Audie Elizabeth Howton, 72, 219 Bluff St., Williamsport, died at 1”30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 1989 in County Care Nursing Center, Williamsport. She had been ill the past two years.
She was born April 23, 1917 in Eldridge, Ala., the daughter of Wheeler and Mary Sprinkle Tedwell. She was married Sept. 19, 1932 in Fayette County, Ala., to John Howton, who survives.
She formerly lived in Alabama until 1948 moving to Missouri, and moved to Williamsport in 1987 from Missouri. She attended school at Eldridge and was a housewife and helped farm.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Alabama and attended the Pentecostal Church of Williamsport.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Mrs. J. H. (Pauline) Bryant, Williamsport; Mrs. Mary Cravens, Fairfield, Iowa, and Mrs. Carolyn Hitchcock, Orlando, Fla.; two sons, J.W., Callao, Mo., and Ernest Lee, Long Beach, Calif.; a brother, Uyless Tedwell, Fayette, Ala.; two sisters, Laudeal Tedwell and Barbara Tedwell, both of Missouri; 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, James C.; one brother and four sisters.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. today at Maus Funeral Home, Attica. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Maus Chapel with the Rev. Don Hickman officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Williamsport. – thanks to S
