HOWARD, Stella Lee

Mrs. Stella Lee Howard, 79 was found dead in bed at her home east of Hillsboro at 5:30 a.m. Thursday May 3.  She had been in failing health several months.  Mrs. Howard was born in Kentucky Sept 29, 1876 daughter of Jacob and Louise Sapp. She married Rollie Paul Howard March 12, 1897 at Carlyle, Ky and he preceded her in death June 3, 1951.  Surviving are 7 sons: John at home; Dallas and Charles of Hoopeston, Ill; Kenneth of Veedersburg; Lloyd of Hillsboro; William of Rossville, Ill; Everett of Mellott; three daughters, Mrs. Mabel Hie at home; Mrs. Lizzie Wallace of Wallace and Mrs. Helen Flick of Danville, Ill; 32 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  Funeral service was held at Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. GT Johnson Methodist minister officiating.  Mrs. Lucile Parnell sang Rock of Ages accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Mary Louise Newman.  Flower bearers were Betty Gibson, Arlene Howard, Deloris Shaw, Patricia Howard, Elouise Howard, Lula Shapp, Shirley Wallace and Pauline Neal.  Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Hillsboro.
