Archibald Howard, 69, former resident of Attica, died late Saturday (May 18, 1957) at his home, 330 N. 4th St., Lafayette, following an extended illness. He had been a bed patient for 10 years.
A former coal miner and carpenter, Mr. Howard resided in Attica 50 years.
He was born May 10, 1888, in Davis Township, son of Elmer and Elvira Pearson Howard and was married to Victoria Duez who died in 1939. In 1943 he married Mary Goodman who survives.
Also surviving are seven sons, Arthur, Russell and Wesley, all of Boswell, and Victor, Archie, Emmerson and Allston, all of Attica;
four daughters, Mrs. Alma Hutson of Attica, Mrs. June Kiger of Lafayette, Mrs. Virginia Seiwert of Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Beatrice Collier of Needham, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Sturges of Mapleton, Iowa, and 27 grandchildren.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the DeSutter Funeral Home. Senior Capt. Elgie Koughn of the Salvation Army officiated, with burial in Riverside Cemetery. - jz
