Mildred B. Hovermale,
89, a life-resident of Troy Township, east of Covington, died at 8:30 p.m.
Sunday, September 24, 2000 at the Waters of Covington. Born May 22, 1911 in
Troy Township, she was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Kate (DeHaven)
Bodine. She married Floyd Hovermale on October 10, 1929 in Newport. He preceded
her in death on December 5, 1975. Surviving, are a daughter, Marilyn (Gene)
Layton of Danville, Ill.; two grandchildren, David and Elanor Turner of
Indianapolis; a sister, Dorothy Rhodes of Hawkinsville, Ga.; and several
nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, who
died Nov. 17, 1985; and a sister, Edith Auter. Mildred was a homemaker and a
member of the Ole Kentuck Baptist Church in Troy Township, Phythians Sisters
and Past Chiefs Club, Rural Troy Home Economics Club, the Troy Township
Democrat Club and a 1928 graduate of Covington High School. Visitation was
Tuesday at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home, Cayuga. Graveside service on
Wednesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, with Rev. Glenn Ray, Sr.,
