HOLYCROSS, Floyd H. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

CAYUGA, Ind. — Floyd H. Holycross, 50, a former Cayuga town board member, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 24, 1978) in St. Elizabeth's Hospital. He had been a patient since Aug. 5 and had been ill for three years. He had been employed at Bohn Heat Transfer Division of Gulf+Western Co. for 19 years as a lift-truck operator. He had served as a fireman in Cayuga for nine years and was a former member of the Civil Defense. He was a member of the Lions Club, American Legion Post 263 and Cayuga United Presbyterian Church. He served in the Navy in World War II. Born Sept. 11, 1927, in Humrick, Ill., he was the son of Floyd H. and Faney Johnson Holycross. On April 16, 1945, in Georgetown, he married Barbara E. Powell, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Dale, and a daughter, Kendra Dee, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Pansy Holycross of Cayuga; two brothers, Lloyd Dewey Holycross of Kingman Route 2, and Forrest William Holycross of Jennings, Okla.; and a sister, Mrs. Donald (Lucy) Meeker of Kingman Route 2. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jack Earley officiating. The body will be taken to the church an hour before services. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery near Kingman. Graveside military rites will be by the Cayuga American Legion. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. today at the Malcolm DeVerter Funeral Home. The Indiana Volunteer Firemen's Association will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m. today.  --waw
