COVINGTON — Floyd Admiral Holycross, 75, Covington, died at 7:48 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007 on Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill. He was born Aug. 24, 1931 in Cayuga, the son of Dewey A. and Sylvia L. (Shelato) Holycross. He married Frances Peggy Holycross June 28, 1952 in Covington. She survives. He was employed at G M Central Foundry 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, V.F.W. Post #2395, Fulton Banta Post #291 American Legion, UAW Local #579. He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and baseball, having coached Little League for several years. Survivors, besides the wife, include: a daughter, Brenda Holycross, Covington; two grandsons, Scott Holycross and Shawn Baldwin; three great-grandchildren, Colton, Avery and Emma; two brothers, Raymond (Elvie) Holycross, Danville and Gary (Christine) Holycross, Georgetown; and two sisters, Maxine Roush, Bainbridge and Wanda (James) Durham, Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cynthia Charles; two brothers; and a sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with Pastor Stephen Jones officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, with military services by the V.F.W. and American Legion. – jlr
