VEEDERSBURG -- Fred Holt, Fountain County native, died at 2 a.m. Saturday at his home at 316 W. Keeling St. Mr. Holt, 76, had been in failing health for over a year. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Indiana Condensed Milk Co. In his earlier years, he was engaged in farming. The deceased was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the EOWO Sunday School Class. Born in Wabash Township near Covington on Jan. 2, 1893, he was the son of William and Mary Stoup Holt. His marriage to Alora Newkirk was solemnized on Dec. 24, 1915. The couple had resided in Veedersburg for the last 17 years. Survivors include the widow; a son, Richard, Covington; two foster sons, Robert and Ralph Harold, Warsaw; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hegg Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Ivan Steed officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery near Covington.
