Margaret Lauman Holsen, 82, 410 E. Jackson St., Attica, died at Community Hospital, Williamsport, Monday, Sept. 1, at 11:05 p.m. She had been in failing health the past five years. She was born in Attica Aug. 5, 1904, the daughter of Frank M. and Corabelle Leasure Lauman. She had been a life resident of Attica. She was a graduate of Attica High School in 1922, received her bachelor of science degree from Purdue University in 1926, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was active in athletics while in Purdue. She was a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, Attica Chapter 125 and Psi Iota Xi sorority. She worked as an attendance officer Fountain County schools from 1937-1963. She had also worked as a probation officer for the Fountain Circuit Court from 1947-1970, when she retired. She was quite active in Republican politics, having been a precinct committeewoman for over 20 years, served as a delegate to the Republican State Convention many times and also served as vice chairman of fountain County Young Republican organization. She was married Jan. 22, 1943, in Attica, to Edwin S. Holsen, who survives. Surviving, besides her husband, are a nephew, Frank L. Baynes, Eugene, Ore.; a niece, Margaret Baynes Heely, Portsmouth, Va., and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Earl D. Owen officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the American Heart Fund.
