VEEDERSBURG — Fred Hoagland, 60-year-old former resident of this community, died in a Greenville, Ky., hospital early Tuesday morning from injuries he received while at work Monday. Complete details of the accident have not been learned here. Mr. Hoagland, who was a resident of Cincinnati, was employed by the Babbcock & Walscocks Boiler Co. of Cincinnati. He had been employed by the firm the past 38 years and was serving as district supervisor at the time of his death. He was born Nov. 23, 1900 in Oklahoma, a son of Smith and Gertrude Minnick Hoagland. His parents moved to this community when he was a child. Mr. Hoagland was a member of the Stone Bluff EUB Church. Survivors include his wife; three children, Roger, Paul and Karen, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Soloman of near Williamsport; and a brother, Dallas of Veedersburg. The body will be brought to the Fishero Funeral Home here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:30 p. m. (EST) Wednesday. Other funeral arrangements are pending.  --typed by Walt W

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 3, at 2 p. m., at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg, for Fred H. Hoagland, age 61, a former resident of Veedersburg, who was killed Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Paradise, Ky., when an elevator in which he was riding fell over 50 feet. Five other men were also passengers on the elevator and were seriously injured. It is believed that the brakes failed, causing the elevator to plunge to the bottom of the shaft. The victims were rushed to the Greenville, Ky., hospital. Mr. Hoagland resided in Cincinnati, Ohio, and had been employed by the Baboock and Wilcox Construction Company for about 40 years. He was an erecting engineer and, at the time of his death, was working at Paradise on a Tennessee Valley Authority project. He was born in Oklahoma on Nov. 2, 1900, a son of Smith Edward and Gertrude Minick Hoagland. The family moved to Veedersburg when he was an infant. Surviving are the mother, the wife, Marjorie, and three children, Roger, Paul and Karen, all at home, and a brother, Dallas of Veedersburg. The Rev. Conley Rowland officiated. Interment was in the Osborn Prairie Cemetery, northeast of Covington.  --typed by Walt W
